Shark's New Glam Hot Tool Promises Salon-Quality Hair at Home
A beauty expert reviews an all-in-one styling system designed to dry, smooth, straighten, curl, and volumize hair with advanced heat protection.
A new multi-styling hair tool from Shark Beauty, the Glam Hot Tool Air Drying & Styling System, aims to replicate professional salon blowouts at home, combining drying and styling functions into a single device. Beauty expert Elise Wilson tested the $699.99 system, noting its potential to replace multiple hair appliances and streamline styling routines.
The Shark Glam system features Gloss Lock Technology, which is designed to enhance shine and reduce frizz, alongside Smart Heat and Scalp Protection that monitors and regulates temperature, preventing it from exceeding 150 degrees Celsius. This feature is particularly beneficial for those concerned about heat damage from traditional styling tools.
"When Shark Beauty launched its new Glam Hot Tool Air Drying & Styling System ($699.99), promising to dry, smooth, straighten, curl and volumise using just one device, I couldn't wait to try it," Wilson stated. The device introduces ceramic styling technology and wet-to-dry air straightening capabilities. Unlike previous models that focused on drying and styling separately, the Glam emphasizes achieving sleek, glossy finishes.
The system includes five interchangeable attachments: the Glossi Ceramic Style brush, Coanda Auto-Wrap curlers, the Silki Ceramic Hair-Straightener, a DeFrizz Diffuser, and a Styling Concentrator Nozzle. Wilson found the Glossi Ceramic Style brush particularly effective for her fine hair, allowing her to create volume at the roots and smooth the lengths simultaneously, mimicking a salon blow-dry. The teardrop shape of the brush is designed to glide easily through hair, smoothing and drying in one pass.
Wilson also highlighted the Coanda Auto-Wrap curlers, which use airflow to automatically wrap hair around the barrel, making them user-friendly for creating waves and curls. The curlers are marked with 'L' and 'R' to indicate left and right sides of the head, simplifying the styling process.
Shark Beauty ambassador Maria Thattil offered styling tips, recommending a rough dry to about 80 percent before styling, using different attachments for various looks, and finishing with shine-enhancing products. She also praised the tool's heat regulation for protecting hair health.
While Wilson noted the tool could feel a bit tiring to hold for extended periods during a full styling session, she ultimately found the Shark Glam system significantly simplified her routine. The ability to have all necessary styling functions in one device, eliminating the need to switch between multiple appliances and wait for them to heat up, was a key benefit.
The investment of $699.99 is considered justifiable by Wilson when factoring in the potential to replace a hairdryer, blow-dry brush, curling wand, and straightener. The system is designed to cater to various hair types, from wavy and curly to coily, offering a versatile solution for achieving polished styles with reduced heat exposure.
Wilson concluded that the system significantly streamlined her morning routine, enabling her to achieve a more put-together look with less effort and time compared to using multiple traditional tools.
