The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra has been recognized on TIME's list of the Best Inventions of 2026. Shortly after its spring release, the device became the fastest-selling Android phone of the year globally, despite a price exceeding $1,000.

A key feature contributing to its success is the new Privacy Display, designed to enhance user privacy by limiting screen visibility from side angles, making unauthorized viewing more difficult. Drew Blackard, Samsung's SVP of Mobile Product Management, described the feature as a more adaptable solution compared to traditional privacy screen protectors. "The user can decide when it turns on," Blackard stated, "or limit visibility for specific content such as popup notifications."
