Ransom Canyon Season 3 Renewal Status, Premiere Date, and Story Teases Revealed
Creator April Blair confirms the writers' room is active for Season 3, with a potential 2027 premiere and eight-episode count.
Netflix has yet to officially renew "Ransom Canyon" for a third season, but creator and showrunner April Blair has indicated that the writers' room is actively working on new episodes. This suggests a strong likelihood of a Season 3, with a potential premiere in 2027.
Season 2 of "Ransom Canyon" concluded with several storylines resolved and new ones introduced, leaving viewers anticipating the next chapter. The finale, "Love Is A Canyon," addressed whether Staten (Josh Duhamel) and Quinn (Minka Kelly) would end up together, the aftermath of an accident involving Yancy (Jack Schumacher) and Ellie (Marianly Tejada), and Lauren's (Lizzy Greene) romantic choice. The season wrapped with Quinn and Staten moving in together, Yancy's land revealing oil deposits, and Sidney (Heidi Grace Engerman) still at large.
Blair stated that Season 3 is expected to feature eight episodes, a departure from the ten-episode count of Season 1 and Season 2. "Eight is fun. It’s a ride. You kind of binge through them," Blair told Decider. "There’s no lull. If you’re doing 12, 14, or definitely 22, you have dips. And with eight, they all have to be great. They all have to be rocketing towards one big conclusion."
Minka Kelly expressed her hopes for Quinn and Staten's storyline in Season 3, focusing on the challenges of building a life together after their on-again, off-again relationship. "What’s it like when you’re building a home together, when you’re building a life together? When you’re finally cohabitating, what does that really look like? The messiness of it, and still choosing each other, despite seeing all of each other’s ugliest parts," Kelly said.
Duhamel suggested exploring the couple's domestic life and even introducing a baby into the narrative. "I’d love to be able to see how these two handle domestic day-to-day. And I think that we should have a baby!" he remarked.
Previous seasons of "Ransom Canyon" premiered annually, with Season 1 dropping in April 2025 and Season 2 in July 2026. Based on this pattern and the active writers' room, a 2027 release for Season 3 seems probable, possibly in the spring or summer.
"Ransom Canyon" is a Netflix original series. Subscribers can stream all available episodes on the platform, with subscription plans ranging from $7.99 per month for standard with ads to $24.99 per month for premium ad-free 4K UHD streaming.
