'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' Producers Hint at Future Character Introductions
Executive producers confirm that key characters Paul Blofis and Rachel Elizabeth Dare will be introduced, though specific casting and timing remain under wraps.
Fans eager to learn which actors will portray Paul Blofis and Rachel Elizabeth Dare in "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" will need to exercise patience, according to the show's executive producers. While the upcoming third season, slated for a November 20 release on Disney+, is expected to adapt "The Titan's Curse," the producers are keeping details about these fan-favorite characters close to the chest.
"There are a couple of announcements that have not been made," executive producer Craig Silverstein told DECIDER in a backstage interview at San Diego Comic-Con. "I don’t know if we want to say too much, or exactly how we’re using those characters, but they are important characters to the series as a whole."
Fellow executive producer Dan Shotz added that "There are a couple of significant roles we’re holding back on sharing with people," indicating that casting announcements are forthcoming. In "The Titan's Curse," both Rachel and Paul play significant roles. Rachel meets Percy at the Hoover Dam, and Paul begins a relationship with Sally Jackson while Percy is away. These characters also hold importance in later books in Rick Riordan's series.
There has been speculation among fans whether these characters might debut in Season 4 rather than Season 3, given their pivotal roles. However, lead actor Walker Scobell, who plays Percy, alluded to potential shifts in adaptation. "Things change sometimes when you do an adaptation, and some things aren’t always in the same spot that you think they would be," Scobell commented to DECIDER. "That’s all I’m going to say."
Fans will have to wait for official announcements to discover who will be cast as Paul Blofis and Rachel Elizabeth Dare, and whether their introductions will occur in the upcoming season or the following one. The first two seasons of "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" are currently available for streaming on Disney+.
