New York School Guarantees Million-Dollar Businesses for Graduates
Alpha School's new division, Founders School, uses AI to accelerate academics, freeing up student time for entrepreneurship.
Alpha School, an AI-powered educational institution in New York, has launched a second campus called Founders School, which guarantees students will develop businesses valued at $1 million by graduation. The tuition for this program is $150,000 annually.
The Founders School operates on a model where AI optimizes academic coursework, allowing students to complete their studies in a compressed timeframe, reportedly three hours daily. This efficiency, according to the school's claims, allows students to outperform traditional schools on standardized tests. The remaining time is dedicated to hands-on entrepreneurial work, described as "team-based workshops" focused on fostering qualities such as "grit."
Students at Founders School are expected to "think, sell, and ship," utilizing AI to enhance their skills and career prospects. The school's stated goal is for students to establish a business worth over $50,000 by the end of their first year. By the sophomore year, students are intended to be ready to hire their first employees, and by the end of 10th grade, the business should be capable of operating independently of its founder. The school notes that students may work on their businesses "until dark" after classes conclude by 11 a.m.
Alpha School, which has received support from figures like hedgie legend Bill Ackman, previously operated a summer camp focused on "life skills" and entrepreneurial activities. The new Founders School builds on this approach, adding an estimated 1,000 hours per year of practical business experience.
