Netflix's new true crime documentary, "A Toxic Love Story," experienced a release delay and is now scheduled to be available for streaming on July 23. The film was initially intended to premiere on July 22 but was not accessible to subscribers.
A Netflix representative confirmed to Decider that the release date was postponed. The documentary is now set to arrive on the streaming platform on Thursday, July 23, at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time and 3:01 a.m. Eastern Time.
"A Toxic Love Story" chronicles the relationship between Deputy U.S. Marshal Ian Diaz and Angela Connell, who began dating in 2016. The documentary explores a disturbing turn in their relationship when Connell starts receiving threatening emails from an individual identified only as "Lilithistruth." Diaz suspects the messages may originate from his ex-partner, Michelle Hadley.
Directed by Alexandra Lacey, the film investigates the source of these communications and the identity of the sender. It is expected to stream exclusively on Netflix, which offers various subscription plans starting at $7.99 per month.
