Early Career Collaboration
Watts and Holland's professional relationship dates back to the 2012 film "The Impossible." In that film, Watts played the mother of Holland's character, who was making his screen debut at 14. The movie, inspired by the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami, depicted a family's struggle for survival. Watts and Holland shared significant scenes, with Holland later describing their experience filming in a large water tank as "terrifying."
"When we were filming that whole tsunami sequence, it was terrifying," Holland said in a 2014 interview. "People think that the film was shot using green screen over a short period of time, but the minimum of green screen effects were used. We were in that tank for six weeks. It was very real. You can imagine how tiring and brutal that was."
"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" is currently playing in theaters.
