Morgan Spector Cast as Robert Langdon in New Netflix Series
The 'Gilded Age' actor will portray the Harvard symbologist in an adaptation of Dan Brown's latest novel.
Morgan Spector, known for his role in "The Gilded Age," has been cast as Robert Langdon in a new Netflix series based on Dan Brown's 2025 novel, "The Secret of Secrets." The streaming service confirmed the development of the series, which will follow the adventures of the Harvard professor.
"The Secret of Secrets" is the sixth installment in Brown's popular series. The novels have previously been adapted into major motion pictures that grossed over $2 billion worldwide, leading Netflix to pursue the latest addition to Langdon's story.
Carlton Cuse, who will serve as showrunner, writer, and executive producer, praised Spector for the role. "Morgan is a truly wonderful actor whose work is always filled with intelligence, thoughtfulness and humanity," Cuse stated. "He’s the perfect fit for Robert Langdon – a brilliant academic whose curiosity, intelligence and intellect are the tools of his trade."
Previously, Ashley Zukerman portrayed Langdon in Peacock's 2022 series "Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol." Tom Hanks famously played the character in the film adaptations of "The Da Vinci Code," "Angels & Demons," and "Inferno."
The Netflix series will adapt Brown's sixth Robert Langdon novel. According to publisher Penguin Random House, the book follows Langdon as he travels to Prague to attend a lecture by noetic scientist Katherine Solomon, with whom he has a romantic relationship. The plot thickens when Solomon is set to publish a book revealing information that could challenge established beliefs.
Cuse, whose previous television work includes "Lost," "Locke & Key," and "Bates Motel," is leading the production. Dan Brown himself will also be involved in the series as an executive producer.
