McFly Stars Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones Reportedly Exit 'The Voice' Amid Schedule Conflicts
The departure of the musical duo follows host Emma Willis's reported move to Strictly Come Dancing.
McFly members Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones have reportedly quit their roles as judges on The Voice UK, as ITV bosses struggle to finalize the lineup for the show's 15th series. The auditions for the 14th series were filmed in 2024, but the broadcast has faced multiple delays. A potential primetime television clash has arisen as host Emma Willis is reportedly set to host Strictly Come Dancing, following the departures of Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.
A source told The Sun that while Fletcher and Jones enjoyed their time on the show, the full series commitment has become unfeasible. Fletcher is reportedly dividing his time between New York, working on a musical adaptation of Paddington, and studio sessions for McFly's eighth album with Jones. Filming for The Voice is expected to resume this autumn, though Willis's return as host remains uncertain.
The Daily Mail has reached out to ITV and McFly's representatives for comment. In the 2023 series of The Voice, Fletcher and Jones coached Ava Manning to victory, securing her a Universal record deal, £50,000 in prize money, and a trip to Universal Resort in Orlando.
This news comes as ITV faces broader schedule changes. Celebrity Big Brother has reportedly been axed. The reality show, previously hosted by AJ Odudu and Will Best, was rested for 2026 with plans to potentially move to ITV2 in 2027. However, current reports suggest it has been permanently shelved due to difficulties in securing high-profile celebrities, who are reportedly favoring a different reality program, The Traitors.
An insider indicated that securing a strong cast for Celebrity Big Brother has become challenging, with celebrities increasingly opting for The Traitors. This trend is said to be impacting other major shows like Strictly Come Dancing and I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! by placing them in a "second in the pecking order" for talent acquisition. The report also noted that ITV is already facing the task of casting two groups of stars for I'm A Celebrity and its spin-off show, The Wild Frontier, both slated for late 2026 and early 2027 respectively, coinciding with the proposed new season of Celebrity Big Brother.
However, an ITV spokesperson told the Daily Mail, "Big Brother returns to ITVX and ITV2 later this year. No decisions have been made for 2027 as yet."
