OpenAI's ChatGPT, Anthropic's Claude, and Google's Gemini all experienced service disruptions on Thursday, impacting a significant number of users and developers.

OpenAI reported that it was investigating "elevated errors across ChatGPT and Codex." The issue persisted for at least 20 minutes, according to a status page at the time.

Anthropic also noted "elevated errors across multiple Claude models." The company stated it had identified the cause and was actively working on a resolution. The affected Claude models included Mythos/Fable 5.1, Mythos/Fable 5, Opus 5, Opus 4.8, and Opus 4.6. Anthropic first flagged the problem shortly before 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time, and by 10:49 a.m. was still reporting efforts to fix the issue.

Google's Gemini also faced partial degradation, affecting some developer and API users. Google's AI Studio status page indicated problems with serving recently created API keys, including those used through OpenAI-compatible libraries. The company confirmed it was investigating the situation.

The simultaneous outages affected three of the most prominent artificial intelligence platforms, drawing attention from users and the tech industry. Representatives from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google were contacted for comment.
