Lifelike Humanoid Robots Debut, With Price Tags Starting at $60,000

Realbotix has introduced a new generation of humanoid robots, dubbed the "Echo" series, boasting highly realistic silicone skin and an extensive range of motion intended to mimic human movement. These robots come with a significant price tag, with the full-body version costing $59,950.

The Echo robots are available in four distinct characters, each with unique appearances and personalities. Aria is described as optimistic and curious with blonde hair and blue eyes, while Mila is empathetic and nurturing, featuring dark brown hair and hazel eyes. The male options include Dave, characterized as witty and precise, and Amar, who is confident and steady.

Realbotix CEO Andrew Kiguel stated that the Echo robots represent a significant advancement in their mission to enhance human lives through social robotics, aiming to create companions that can offer support, education, and care.

The robots are offered in two models: a tabletop version and a full-body version. The tabletop model, priced at $11,950, includes a head and neck and is designed for one-on-one interactions in educational, therapeutic, or personal wellness settings. The full-body model stands at approximately 6 feet for the female version and 6.4 feet for the male version.

Both models feature proprietary silicone synthetic skin for a lifelike appearance and advanced facial expressions. Integrated speakers are designed to provide clear audio for communication, and the robots support over 100 languages, responding in the language they are addressed in.

Realbotix suggests potential applications for the Echo robots across sectors such as elder care, wellness, hospitality, retail, education, and corporate services.

An additional $24,950 is required to unlock the full artificial intelligence capabilities, known as Vinci Vision. This feature enables the robots to identify individuals in a room and respond not only to spoken words but also to visual presence.

Initial reactions to the launch video shared by the company on social media have included skepticism about the realism, with some users questioning if the presented footage was generated by AI. Concerns were also raised about the high cost, with suggestions that a lower price point could lead to wider adoption and community-driven development.

The Echo bots feature ultra–realistic silicone skin and 39 degrees of freedom, meaning they can move around just like real people

Users can choose between four characters, which each have their own distinct look and personality
