Grand Theft Auto 6 Trailer Sparks Mixed Reactions From Eager Fans
Rockstar Games unveils extended look at highly anticipated title, but online viewers express both excitement and disappointment.
Rockstar Games has released an extended look at the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI, showcasing gameplay footage captured on PlayStation 5. The nearly 26-minute video, shared on YouTube and Netflix, offers a detailed glimpse into the game's environment and mechanics, featuring scenes that include shootouts, street brawls, and virtual reality experiences.
This latest installment in the blockbuster franchise is set to launch on November 19, more than 13 years after its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto V. Grand Theft Auto V, the second best-selling video game in history, achieved $1 billion in sales within three days of its 2013 release and has sold over 230 million copies worldwide.
Initial reactions to the extended footage have been divided. On social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit, fans expressed a range of opinions. Some lauded the game's visuals and immersive potential, with one user calling it "absolutely MAGNIFICENT" and another expressing disbelief that the graphics were rendered on a PS5.
However, a significant portion of viewers voiced disappointment, with some criticizing the gameplay as repetitive or lacking innovation. Comments included claims that the game "looks like an unfinished snooze fest" and that the experience felt more like watching a television show than actively playing a game.
Despite mixed reactions, Grand Theft Auto VI is available for pre-order at a price of £69.99. The game's development has faced challenges, including a major data leak in 2022 that exposed unfinished footage and reports of employee layoffs.
