The popular Yellowstone spin-off, "Dutton Ranch," has been officially renewed by Paramount+ for a second season, with production scheduled to begin in early 2027. No specific release date has been announced, but the series is anticipated to return to streaming that year.
Season 1 of "Dutton Ranch" concluded in June, leaving viewers with several unanswered questions, including the fate of Carter, who was kidnapped by a cartel, and the resolution of various character conflicts. The series finale, episode nine titled "El Padrino," did not feature a tenth episode, as the season comprised a total of nine installments.
Despite the cliffhangers, the series has garnered significant viewership and critical acclaim. According to Paramount+, "Dutton Ranch" became the biggest Original Series launch in the platform's history, attracting 12.9 million global viewers within its first week. Its debut on Paramount Network also drew 2.9 million total viewers. The series holds a Certified Fresh 90% Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
"Dutton Ranch has resonated with audiences in a powerful way, building on the legacy of beloved characters, while establishing its own identity," said Matt Thunell, President of Paramount Television Studios. "Thank you to our partners at Paramount+ and 101 Studios for a phenomenal first season. We look forward to bringing fans more stories from these unforgettable characters in Season 2."
Benjamin Cavell has joined "Dutton Ranch" as the new showrunner for the upcoming season. This marks a change from Season 1, which was showrun by Chad Feehan.
In related news, another Yellowstone spin-off, "Marshals," is set to premiere on Sunday, October 4, 2025, on CBS and will be available for streaming on Paramount+. "Dutton Ranch" and "Marshals" are both available for streaming on Paramount+.
Amidst the anticipation for Season 2, there have been fan inquiries regarding the potential departure of Cole Hauser, who plays Rip. However, sources indicate that Rip is not leaving the series, and Hauser remains an executive producer.
Paramount+ offers two subscription tiers: Essential at $8.99 per month and Premium at $13.99 per month. Both plans offer a seven-day free trial for the Premium option. "Dutton Ranch" is also accessible on platforms like Hulu and Prime Video through the addition of a Paramount+ subscription.
