China to Debut Full-Scenario Robot Hotel in 2027
Pudu Robotics plans to open a hotel where robots manage the entire guest experience, from check-in to room service and cleaning.
Pudu Robotics has announced plans for what it calls the first "full-scenario robot-serviced hotel," set to open to the public in Shenzhen, China, in 2027. The project aims to utilize robots for nearly every aspect of the guest experience, including reception, room service, cleaning, food preparation, and general guest support.
Trial runs of the robot-powered services, including robot check-in and autonomous in-room delivery, are expected to begin in late 2026, ahead of the full launch. The hotel will feature 44 high-end rooms, a restaurant, and a gym.
Location and Concept
The hotel will be situated on West Artificial Island, a man-made island connected to the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link in Guangdong Province. Shenzhen is recognized as a significant technology hub, and the region already sees widespread use of delivery robots in hotels and other public spaces. However, Pudu Robotics intends to go beyond simply augmenting human staff with robots; their vision is a fully integrated robot service system.
Robot Roles
Robots will perform various functions throughout the property. Guests could check in via a robot, have their luggage delivered autonomously, and order services through their phones without direct interaction with human staff. AI-powered cleaning robots will manage room upkeep and waste detection. Pudu Robotics stated that these robots will operate from a shared intelligence framework, allowing different machines to perform distinct tasks while remaining connected through a unified software system.
Specific robots mentioned include the FlashBot for an intelligent vending system, the PUDU T300 for luggage transport, and the PUDU CC1 Pro and PUDU MT1 for cleaning tasks utilizing AI waste-detection technology. During a Shenzhen launch event, the BellaBot Pro served coffee and the KettyBot Pro delivered refreshments.
AI Integration
The hotel's operations will be managed by PuduFM 1.0, Pudu Robotics' embodied intelligence foundation model, and PuduAgent for intelligent operations. Cong Guo, co-founder and CTO of Pudu Robotics, described the project as a significant step toward the large-scale deployment of embodied intelligence in premium hospitality environments and an opportunity to explore new service models where AI and robotics collaborate.
Broader Context
This initiative is part of a larger plan by Shenzhen Culture & Tourism Industry Development and Pudu Robotics to develop West Artificial Island into a robotics and technology destination. The hotel is one component of a broader strategy to introduce more robotics across tourism and hospitality sectors on the island over the next four years, potentially establishing it as a testbed for consumer reception of highly automated services.
While the convenience of faster check-ins and automated services is anticipated, the project also raises questions about employment, privacy, and the human element of hospitality. The success and guest response to this fully robot-serviced environment could influence future expectations in the travel industry, testing whether consumers prioritize efficiency and automation over traditional human interaction in hotels.
