Apple Releases iOS 27 with Siri AI Beta and Enhanced Apple Intelligence Features

Apple has officially released iOS 27 to the public, bringing a significant update to iPhones with a range of new features powered by Apple Intelligence and the much-anticipated Siri AI beta. The update is available for iPhone 11 models and newer, as well as the second-generation iPhone SE and later.

Enhanced Photo Editing
iOS 27 introduces powerful new editing tools to the Photos app. The Spatial Reframing feature allows users to alter the composition and perspective of a photo after it has been taken, with Apple Intelligence generating necessary scene additions. The 'Extend' tool enables users to expand photos beyond their original edges, filling in the new space with AI-generated content. Additionally, the 'Clean Up' tool has been upgraded to remove larger distractions from photos.
Safari Upgrades
The Safari browser receives a notable upgrade with the 'Notify Me' feature, which allows users to monitor webpages for changes, such as product restocks or price drops. Safari will alert users when a specified change occurs, eliminating the need for constant manual checking. The browser can also now automatically organize open tabs by topic.
Siri AI Beta and Call Context
A major highlight of iOS 27 is the rollout of the Siri AI beta. This new iteration of Siri is designed to handle more natural conversations, understand follow-up questions, and utilize personal context from the device. Customization options for the Camera app have been expanded, allowing users to place frequently used controls like Flash, Timer, or Exposure directly above the camera frame for easier access. Parental controls have also been strengthened with the 'Ask to Browse' feature, which lets children request access to restricted websites, with parents receiving and approving these requests via Messages. Communication Safety has been expanded to detect gore and violent content in shared photos and videos.
Find My and Shortcuts
The Find My app now offers more granular control over location sharing, allowing users to set custom durations or exact end times for sharing. This feature is particularly useful for temporary location sharing during trips or events. The 'Describe a Shortcut' feature in the Shortcuts app allows users to create automations by simply describing their desired outcome in plain English, with Apple Intelligence building the shortcut accordingly.
Device Compatibility and Availability
Most features in iOS 27 are compatible with iPhone 11 and later models, as well as the second-generation iPhone SE and newer. However, advanced Apple Intelligence features, including Siri AI, require iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max, or iPhone 16 models or later. The Siri AI is currently rolling out in English as a beta, with support for additional languages and regions to follow.
Apple also unveiled the foldable iPhone Duo, with a starting price of $1,999, featuring a dual-screen capability and a slim design. The highest storage model can reach up to $3,000.
