Apple iPhone Duo Pre-Orders Face Massive Delays, Shipping Pushed to January

Pre-orders for Apple's new foldable iPhone Duo opened today, but many consumers were met with significant shipping delays, pushing expected delivery dates back to January. Initial promises of devices shipping as early as October 23 were quickly superseded, with many customers finding the earliest available shipping date to be January 22.

Reports from consumers indicate widespread disappointment, with some describing the pre-order process as the worst they had experienced for any phone. "A trillion-dollar company like Apple should be better prepared to handle high traffic during iPhone pre-orders," one user commented on X. "Customers plan ahead and eagerly wait for launch day, only to face technical issues. This shows a serious lack of planning and infrastructure readiness. Very disappointing!"

Every combination of color and memory size appears to be affected by the shortages. Some users reported their expected delivery dates shifting backward even while attempting to complete their purchase. One customer noted their delivery date moved from October 23 to November 9 during checkout. Others experienced difficulties accessing the Apple Store website due to high traffic volumes, with some unable to get into the store until significantly after pre-orders opened.

Retail partners also experienced issues. Customers reported being stuck in online queues and facing technical difficulties with the O2 store's website. O2 acknowledged the high demand, stating that it could lead to longer wait times than usual.

The iPhone Duo is priced between £1,999 and £3,199, depending on storage options which range from 256GB to 2TB. The device is available in Star White and Night Sky colors. It features a 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch folding inner display. The foldable is powered by the A20 Pro chipset, enabling multitasking capabilities, and supports Apple Pencil, making it the first iPhone to do so. The rear cameras are 48-megapixel Fusion Main and Ultra Wide, with a 12MP Center Stage camera for the front/internal camera.
