Amazon Prime Day Deals Examined: Which Offers Are Genuine Bargains?
Consumer research indicates that while some tech deals are at historic lows, others have been cheaper previously, urging shoppers to scrutinize discounts.

Amazon's Prime Day sale presents an opportunity for consumers to acquire technology at reduced prices, but a recent analysis by Which? suggests that not all advertised discounts reflect the best available prices.
According to the consumer research, up to one-third of products featured in the sale have previously been offered at lower prices within the last six months. This trend means that quoted retail prices and the presented discounts may not always represent the optimal buying opportunity for shoppers.
While some deals offer genuine savings, others might not be as advantageous as they appear. For instance, the Oura Ring 4 is currently available at its lowest price ever, priced at £189.05. Similarly, a Ring Battery Video Doorbell & Ring Indoor Camera bundle is priced at £39.99, which is £10 less than its previous lowest price.
However, popular items such as the Apple AirPods Pro 3, Amazon Kindle, and Sage Barista Express have been available at lower prices in recent months. For example, the AirPods Pro 3, currently listed at £183.32, was previously sold for £174 in August and June.
Reena Sewraz, a retail expert at Which?, advised consumers to be discerning. "Prime Day can be a good opportunity to pick up a bargain," Sewraz stated, "but our research shows that shoppers shouldn’t assume every deal is the best price simply because it’s labelled a 'deal'."
For those seeking the best value during the sale, several items are highlighted as being at their lowest prices:
- Ring Battery Video Doorbell & Ring Indoor Camera: Available for £39.99, down from £119.98.
- Samsung Galaxy S26: Priced at £679, a reduction from £879.
- Oura Ring 4: Marked down to £189.05 from £349.
- Samsung 75" QLED QEF1 4K TV: Offered at £599, reduced from £749.
Other notable deals include the Samsung Galaxy S26 smartphone, which is now £679, representing an £80 saving compared to its lowest recorded price and a £200 saving from its RRP of £879. The Shark FlexStyle 5-in-1 Air Styler & Hair Dryer is priced at £209, marking a significant saving from its RRP of £269.99. The Samsung Smart TV 55-Inch U7020H is available for £329, its lowest price to date, down from £429.
For kitchen appliances, the Kenwood Titanium Chef Baker XL is on sale for £199.90. While not its absolute lowest price ever, this is a substantial reduction from its RRP of £418.99 and significantly lower than its average price over the past year.
The De'Longhi Eletta Explore coffee maker is currently at its cheapest price ever at £749.99, saving £220 from its full price. Additionally, the Shark PowerPro Cordless Stick Vacuum is £169.99, matching its joint-cheapest price on record.
Conversely, shoppers interested in the Sage Barista Express may want to wait, as its current price of £498.99 is higher than its lowest ever price of £449. Products like the Amazon Kindle 16GB, Amazon Fire Stick, and Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids tablet have also been available at lower prices in recent months, suggesting potential for future discounts.
