Long-stay hospitality brand AKA Hotels and Residences has debuted its Atelier AKA Health + Wellness program, an initiative designed to help guests maintain their health and wellness routines while traveling. The program, rolled out earlier this summer across AKA properties, is structured around five pillars: movement, nourishment, sleep, mindfulness, and longevity.
One of the program's key features is its focus on personalized nourishment. Before a guest's stay, AKA inquires about their dietary preferences and can arrange for groceries to be stocked in the in-suite kitchens through services like FreshDirect. This approach aims to remove a common barrier to healthy eating while traveling by ensuring guests have access to preferred foods for preparing meals.
The suites themselves are equipped with full-size refrigerators, stoves, cookware, and dishwashers, facilitating the preparation of multiple meals. Measuring cups are also included, a detail noted as particularly helpful for guests tracking macronutrient intake.
For sleep, AKA offers amenities such as weighted blankets and sleep masks, intended to promote a darker sleep environment and potentially reduce anxiety. The hotel also provides aromatherapy and sound devices for guests to use.
Movement and recovery are addressed through a well-equipped fitness center featuring Technogym equipment suitable for strength training, hybrid training, and endurance activities. The program also extends beyond the gym, with suites including fitness kits with resistance bands, exercise mats, and foam rollers. Additionally, AKA partners with local wellness studios, such as StretchLab, to offer specialized recovery services like assisted stretching.
Technogym's AI-powered technology offers a "Technogym Checkup," a full-body assessment that measures strength, mobility, balance, body composition, hydration, and cognitive performance. This assessment generates a personalized wellness profile and a "Wellness Age" score, informing subsequent training sessions.
The Atelier AKA Health + Wellness program aims to adapt guests' routines to their travel environment rather than requiring them to put their healthy habits on hold. This approach emphasizes providing the necessary tools and infrastructure to support continuity in fitness, nutrition, sleep, and recovery practices, making healthy living on the road more accessible.
