AI Will Serve Humanity, Not Replace It, Industry Leaders Assert

Artificial intelligence is poised to revolutionize various industries, but human creativity and critical thinking will remain the driving forces, according to leaders in the technology and entertainment sectors. During a TIME100 Talk in Cannes, France, on June 23, experts discussed AI's growing role in filmmaking and creative processes, emphasizing that the technology serves as a tool to augment, rather than replace, human capabilities.

Dara Treseder, chief marketing and commercial officer for Autodesk, a software company specializing in design and engineering, stated that AI is elevating the baseline for what is achievable, but human ingenuity is key to reaching new heights. She stressed the importance of users thoughtfully integrating AI into their workflows, focusing on desired outcomes rather than simply layering new technology onto existing processes. "AI is here to stay, but AI is not replacing humans…AI is here to serve humanity, but humans are still in charge," Treseder remarked. She described the current era as a "new industrial revolution."
