The illustrator famous for his work on "The Gruffalo" books, Axel Scheffler, has voiced concerns about the proliferation of artificial intelligence (AI)-generated images, describing them as "worrying."

Scheffler told the BBC that AI pictures represent a "breach of copyright." He also noted that they lack the distinct appeal of hand-drawn artwork.

His remarks were made during an event with author Dame Julia Donaldson, co-creator of "The Gruffalo" series. The pair were promoting their new book, "Gruffalo Granny," during which Donaldson read an excerpt.

Scheffler's commentary touches upon ongoing debates within the creative industries regarding the ethical and legal implications of AI in art and illustration, particularly concerning originality and intellectual property rights.
