The New York Yankees have extended pitching coach Matt Blake's contract for three years, a move that follows a season where the team's pitching staff posted the lowest ERA in Major League Baseball at 3.23.
Blake's tenure has coincided with the Yankees' pitching dominance, which continued into the postseason. The team's ERA stood at 1.88 during the playoffs. General Manager Brian Cashman is also expected to sign a new deal, having guided the team to the postseason 24 times in his 29 years with the organization.
