New York Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. exited Monday's game against the Detroit Tigers in the fourth inning following a collision with teammate Jasson Domínguez while pursuing a fly ball. The incident occurred during the top of the fourth with the Yankees trailing, 7-0, when Detroit's Hao-Yu Lee hit a high fly ball into shallow right field.
Domínguez and Chisholm converged on the ball, with neither player appearing to take verbal command of the play. Domínguez caught the ball with his left arm extended, but Chisholm ran directly into his elbow and fell to the ground. It took several minutes for Chisholm to sit up and then more time to stand. He was then helped off the field by a trainer, and Oswaldo Cabrera entered the game to play second base.
There was no immediate update on Chisholm's condition following the collision. The game marked another eventful day for the infielder, who was ejected the previous day in Boston for arguing a call in the sixth inning. This ejection followed a second one-on-one discussion with manager Aaron Boone in the past week, after Boone had expressed displeasure with Chisholm sucking on a Blow Pop while playing second base during a game in Detroit the prior Monday.
