New York Yankees pitcher Cam Schlittler has decided not to pitch in the upcoming MLB All-Star Game, despite being in a position to start for the American League. Schlittler informed manager Aaron Boone of his decision Sunday morning, expressing apprehension about throwing at high velocity on his scheduled recovery day.

Schlittler, who finished the first half of the season with a 2.05 earned run average, indicated that his focus is on the second half of the season with the Yankees. "Just feels like, on his recovery day, to go back out there throwing 100 miles an hour is something that he felt a little apprehensive about," Boone said. "Certainly support that decision and obviously he understands what’s at stake here in the second half for us and for him."

Boone confirmed that Schlittler is physically healthy and feels fine following his most recent outing. The pitcher's decision means he will stick to his regular routine and likely be available for the Yankees' upcoming series against the Dodgers. While he will not pitch in the exhibition game, Schlittler is still expected to attend the All-Star Game festivities. The 25-year-old right-hander's decision prioritizes his long-term performance and the team's goals for the remainder of the season.
