Yamamoto Sets Historic Postseason Mark in Dodgers' NLDS Game 3 Victory
Ace pitcher becomes first to win five straight postseason starts without allowing more than one run or walk in any.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto delivered a historic pitching performance Tuesday night, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 3-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves in Game 3 of the NLDS. With this win, Yamamoto extended his remarkable postseason streak, becoming the first pitcher in Major League Baseball history to secure victories in five consecutive postseason appearances while allowing no more than one run and one walk in each game.
Furthermore, all five of these victories have occurred on the road. Yamamoto's dominance on the mound continued as he recorded a postseason career-high 10 strikeouts over seven innings, surrendering just one earned run and one walk. This outing silenced the Braves' offense and placed the Dodgers one win away from advancing to the NLCS.
Yamamoto's impressive streak also includes an undefeated record of 34-0, encompassing both regular season and postseason play, when his team provides at least three runs of offensive support during his starts. The Braves managed to score their only run of the game in the fifth inning after loading the bases, but Yamamoto quickly shut down the threat.
The Dodgers have now won 10 of Yamamoto's 11 postseason appearances. His only previous postseason loss came last season in Game 3 of the NLDS against the Philadelphia Phillies at Dodger Stadium.
