Xia Brookside emerged victorious at TNA Slammiversary on Sunday, defeating Léi Yǐng Lee to win the TNA Knockouts World Championship. This marks Brookside's first championship in TNA and ends Lee's second reign, which lasted 74 days.
The match saw a dramatic turn in the rivalry between the former friends. Lee initially controlled the pace with her agility, landing multiple kicks, a dropkick, a German suplex, and a thrust kick. The contest moved outside the ring where Lee hit a diving shoulder block on Brookside.
Brookside, however, capitalized on an opportunity by pushing Lee into the ring post, injuring her left knee. She then focused her attack on Lee's knee. Despite sustaining damage and facing a submission hold from Lee, Brookside managed to counter.
In the closing moments, Lee powerbombed Brookside from the turnbuckle. Brookside then exposed the turnbuckle's padding, causing Lee to hit her face on the exposed area when knocked off the top rope. Brookside followed up with a move called the Darkside to secure the pinfall and the championship.
