During his media tour following his recent U.S. Open victory, golfer Wyndham Clark addressed a nearly decade-old tweet expressing dislike for NFL quarterback Baker Mayfield. Clark revealed on the "Pardon My Take" podcast that the tweet, originally posted in December 2016, was a reaction to his then-girlfriend cheating on him with Mayfield.

At the time of the tweet, Clark was playing golf at Oklahoma State University, while Mayfield was a college football star at the University of Oklahoma, suggesting the post was not related to collegiate athletic rivalry. Clark stated that while his initial reaction was negative, he now considers Mayfield a "homie" and hopes for a reconciliation.

"This is personal. I hope this is a bro moment for us to be like, ‘Oh, bro, I didn’t know. My bad. She never told me,’ and I’m like, ‘Oh, it’s all good, we’re homies, let’s play golf,’" Clark said, expressing a desire to move past the incident and potentially play golf together.

Clark, now a major champion, has moved on from the personal situation, and Mayfield is married. The golfer shared this story as part of his U.S. Open victory tour, aiming to clear the air about the old social media post.
