U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark has accused an ex-girlfriend of cheating on him with NFL quarterback Baker Mayfield. Clark, who recently secured his second major title, revealed the claim during an appearance on the "Pardon My Take" podcast. The accusation stems from a 2016 tweet where Clark expressed dislike for Mayfield. At the time, Mayfield was playing college football for the University of Oklahoma, while Clark was at Oklahoma State University before transferring to the University of Oregon.

Clark stated on the podcast, "My girlfriend at the time cheated on me with Baker Mayfield." He added that he has since become a fan of Mayfield and hopes to reconcile any past animosity, suggesting a desire to "play golf" with the quarterback. He indicated that the ex-girlfriend in question is an unnamed partner from his college days, distinct from his most recent public relationship.

Clark is currently dating model and influencer Emily Tanner. The couple made their relationship public earlier in 2026, and Tanner was present to celebrate Clark's U.S. Open victory. Mayfield, the starting quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is married to Emily, with whom he shares two children. They met in 2017 and married in July 2019. Mayfield has not yet publicly responded to Clark's allegation.

Clark's second U.S. Open win, which concluded on Sunday, was marked by disruptions. Police removed multiple fans from Shinnecock Hills for shouting abuse at Clark during the final round. Reports indicate that fans jeered the golfer after he started the final day with several bogeys, allowing competitors to gain ground. One fan was reportedly removed for shouting "Don't choke Wyndham" on the fourth hole, and NBC announcers confirmed other fan removals due to disruptive behavior.
