WWE legend Jim Ross is preparing for brain surgery after a recent hospital stay that lasted nearly 40 days. The 74-year-old announcer, known to fans as JR, revealed the health update on his 'Grilling JR' podcast.

Ross explained that he needs a shunt to drain fluid from his brain, a condition that has caused memory issues and discomfort. "I gotta get it addressed, I couldn't live my life the way it was, you know. I forget s*** and just couldn't remember things. It's just horrible. I felt horrible," Ross stated.

The health scare began when Ross passed out in his home and was subsequently hospitalized for the extended period. He is awaiting a confirmed date for the surgery, which he anticipates will occur within the next week.

Ross acknowledged the seriousness of the upcoming procedure. "I always feel like anytime they open your skull up that’s a serious piece of business and this certainly feels that way," he said. He expects a brief hospital stay and a recovery period at home.

The wrestling icon, who currently works for rival promotion AEW, has faced other health challenges in recent years. He has managed Bell's Palsy, which affects the facial muscles, since 1994. Two years prior to his recent hospitalization, Ross was also admitted to the hospital due to shortness of breath. These health issues have led to more sporadic appearances on AEW programming, though he did provide commentary for the Double or Nothing show in May.
