Wolves striker Tolu Arokodare is on the verge of joining Ajax on loan, with the Dutch club holding an option to make the move permanent for £17 million. Under the terms of the potential deal, Ajax would cover Arokodare's full salary in addition to a £1 million loan fee. The agreement also includes performance-based bonuses tied to Ajax qualifying for European competitions.

The impending transfer follows an incident last week where Arokodare reportedly refused to leave a Wolves training pitch, leading to the session's cancellation. Wolves had previously rejected offers for the forward from Fiorentina and Trabzonspor, with Arokodare expressing reluctance to join either club.

While Arokodare has denied refusing to train, sources indicate he joined a session he was not scheduled to participate in. He was subsequently absent from Wolves' friendly match against Maidenhead United the following Wednesday.

Following the training ground events, Arokodare posted on social media, stating, "Throughout my career, I have always taken great pride in conducting myself professionally and maintaining the highest training standards. My commitment has always been to prepare myself as well as possible so that I can contribute to my team-mates and the club whenever I am called upon. I remain under contract with Wolves, and my only intention is to fulfil my responsibilities professionally by training, doing my job, and contributing to the team in accordance with that contract."
