Chicago Sky guard DiJonai Carrington has drawn attention for a series of plays resulting in contact with opponents' faces over a four-day span. These incidents include a Flagrant 2 foul on Sophie Cunningham of the Indiana Fever and two separate instances against the Golden State Valkyries.

During a game against the Indiana Fever on August 8, 2026, Carrington was ejected for a hard foul on Cunningham, which left the Fever player with a bloody mouth. Following the incident, Carrington posted on Instagram, "WHITE PRIVILEGE," on her account, leading to public discussion and commentary from sports analysts.

Four days later, playing against the Golden State Valkyries, Carrington was involved in two more plays where she made contact with opponents' faces. While attempting to defend Cecilia Zandalasini on the perimeter, Carrington's hand made contact with Zandalasini's eye. Later in the same game, while defending Tiffany Hayes on a layup attempt, Carrington's arm came down and hit Hayes in the mouth.

Neither of these latter two incidents were called as flagrant or technical fouls. However, Carrington did receive her second technical foul of the season during the game against the Valkyries for arguing with a referee. The WNBA has not publicly commented on the incidents.

In June 2025, Carrington had previously addressed narratives surrounding her playing style, writing on X (formerly Twitter), "Yall fAnS swear i’m such a dirty player. I’m SO over this narrative bc if u really know bball, u know I jus play hard asf & never give up on a play." She added that she challenges flagrant fouls when she believes she is making a play on the ball.

Carrington, who attended Stanford University before transferring to Baylor for her graduate studies, stated in response to assumptions about her "white privilege" post that she has educated herself on the term and would not use it without substantiating evidence. She clarified that her post was not an accusation regarding the foul assessment on Cunningham.
