WNBA Commentator Sydney Colson Restrained After Confrontation With Fan

During a heated WNBA playoff game between the Las Vegas Aces and the Indiana Fever on Tuesday, Amazon Prime commentator Sydney Colson was physically restrained by an arena staff member as she appeared to lunge at a spectator. The incident occurred shortly after Aces star A'ja Wilson received a technical foul for confronting a fan who had shouted at her.

Video footage shows Colson and fellow analyst Theresa Plaisance, who is also a podcast co-host with Wilson, leaving their courtside seats to approach the baseline seats. As personnel escorted them away, a fan wearing a red Fever shirt directed a comment toward them. Plaisance responded, and Colson then moved aggressively toward the fan, with an Amazon staffer holding her back. In the video, Colson can be heard shouting, "Who do you think you are? B----, who the f--- do you think you are?"

Wilson's confrontation with the fan began after the player overreacted to the spectator pointing at her and saying, "It's on you!" Wilson left the court to address the fan, earning a technical foul. Afterward, Wilson stated that the fan's conduct crossed a line, although the Fever confirmed that arena security investigated and found no violations of the Fan Code of Conduct.

Colson, who played for the Indiana Fever during the 2025 season, has previously made public comments critical of her former team. The report noted that Colson remained mic'd up for Amazon's broadcast during the altercation. The broadcast team, including LaChina Robinson, suggested that "something was said" to Wilson, while Aces coach Becky Hammon implied Wilson felt "deeply disrespected."

In August, Colson also posted sarcastically on social media after Chicago Sky player DiJonai Carrington was ejected for a foul on Fever guard Sophie Cunningham, writing, "Love a trans foul."

The article suggests that in other professional sports, a commentator engaging in such behavior could face immediate suspension or termination, questioning the response from Amazon and WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert.
