Will Levis, recently released by the Tennessee Titans, is pursuing an opportunity with the New York Jets, according to a report from The Athletic. The quarterback worked out for the team on Thursday with the aim of joining their practice squad.

Levis, 27, was the 33rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft after a college career at Kentucky. He became the Titans' starter midway through his rookie season and held the position in 2024. However, he missed the entire 2025 season due to shoulder surgery. The Titans subsequently drafted Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall pick, signaling a move forward without Levis.

During his tenure with the Titans, Levis faced online criticism for his on-field performance, particularly regarding ball security. His personal life also experienced turbulence, including a public split from his ex-girlfriend Gia Duddy and the leak of an intimate tape early in their relationship.

Levis entered training camp competing for the backup quarterback position with Mitch Trubisky but did not make the Titans' 53-man roster and cleared waivers without being claimed by another team.

Competition for Practice Squad Spot

The Jets are evaluating Levis for a potential practice squad role. He competed for the spot against UFL MVP Jack Plummer. The team has already named Cade Klubnik as the backup quarterback behind starter Geno Smith. Klubnik, a fourth-round draft pick from Clemson, secured the backup job over Bailey Zappe and Brady Cook.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn commented on the quarterback room, expressing confidence in Klubnik's development. "He's our backup quarterback, and he'll do a good job," Glenn stated. "There's just a confidence in how he operates and what he's done in practice, what he's done in the games. I don't think anybody ever said there weren't going to be hiccups. I mean, he's a rookie, but he's always learning, but he's a very intelligent guy."

The Jets had intended to re-sign Brady Cook to their practice squad, but he was claimed by the Miami Dolphins. Glenn confirmed that he and general manager Darren Mougey are actively seeking additional players who could contribute to the team, including exploring options for another quarterback on the practice squad.
