West Ham's Taty Castellanos Accused of Spitting at Millwall Goalkeeper

West Ham forward Taty Castellanos is facing an accusation of spitting at Millwall goalkeeper Filip Marschall during a contentious Dockers Derby match at The Den. The alleged incident occurred in the second half of the game, with Millwall leading 2-0.

According to reports, Marschall was seen dabbing his shirt to his face in disbelief and appeared to tell the referee, Paul Tierney, "He spat at me." No immediate sanction was given to Castellanos following the accusation. West Ham has denied that their player spat at Marschall.

Sky Sports reported that Millwall staff have submitted a formal complaint to officials regarding the incident. Daily Mail Sport has reached out to Millwall for comment.

West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo stated after the match, "I didn't see it, I didn't see it, so I am not going to comment on it." The match concluded with a 2-2 draw after West Ham scored two late goals to secure a share of the points.

This incident brings to mind past disciplinary actions for similar offenses in the Championship. In December of the previous year, Burnley's Hannibal Mejbri received a four-match ban and a £15,000 fine for spitting at Leeds fans. Additionally, in December 2024, Norwich's Borja Sainz was suspended for six games and fined £12,000 for spitting during a match against Sunderland.
