One of college football’s oldest regional rivalries, the Apple Cup, will be reignited on September 6, 2026, as the Washington State Cougars face the University of Washington Huskies. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on CBS.
This marks the third meeting between the two programs since the Huskies joined the Big Ten conference, a result of conference realignment. A five-year agreement has been established to ensure the continuation of this rivalry game.
The Washington Huskies currently lead the all-time series. In their most recent matchup in 2025, Washington secured a decisive 59-24 victory over Washington State.
Both teams are coming off successful 2025-26 seasons, having concluded their campaigns with bowl game victories. The Huskies finished the 2025 season with a 9-4 record in their second year in the Big Ten. They concluded their season with a commanding 38-10 win against Boise State in the LA Bowl and enter the 2026 season ranked No. 17 in the AP preseason Top 25.
Washington State concluded their 2025 season with a 7-6 record. Despite some midseason challenges, the Cougars won three of their final four games, culminating in a 34-21 victory over Utah State in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.
