The Golden State Warriors are reportedly interested in a potential reunion with Kevin Durant, should the opportunity arise next season. According to Brett Siegel of Clutch Points, sources within the organization have indicated that if Durant becomes available, the Warriors would welcome him back.
"The organization has not completely moved on from the idea of one day reuniting [Steph] Curry with former Warrior and two-time Finals MVP Kevin Durant," Siegel wrote. "Lacob and the Warriors would welcome Durant back with open arms, much like they were prepared to do in 2025 before he and his business partner Rich Kleiman stopped the trade deadline deal in its tracks."
Siegel noted that Durant's decision to halt a potential 2025 reunion was driven by his desire for stability in Phoenix, a move that ultimately did not materialize as he was later traded to the Houston Rockets. The Warriors, meanwhile, pursued Jimmy Butler, who faced significant injury challenges, including an ACL tear in January that sidelined him for the remainder of the season.
Despite the team's reported interest in Durant, the current Warriors roster is set to return largely unchanged from the previous season. Head coach Steve Kerr has expressed contentment with the existing group, even acknowledging that he did not anticipate the team having a realistic chance to acquire LeBron James, who signed with the Philadelphia 76ers.
One notable addition to the Warriors' lineup is rookie Yaxel Lendeborg, selected with the 11th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. Lendeborg is expected to play a significant role after leading the Warriors' Summer League team to a championship, earning MVP honors for his performance in the finals.
However, the team's core group is aging, and has been hampered by injuries. Stephen Curry, now 38, missed 39 games last season due to runner's knee. Durant was a member of the Warriors from 2016 to 2019, during which time he helped the team win two NBA championships and was named Finals MVP in both instances, averaging 25.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game.
