Vrancken Criticizes Hearts Players for Panic in Falkirk Defeat

Hearts manager Wouter Vrancken has criticized his players for a panicked and disorganized performance after their 2-1 defeat to Falkirk. The loss prevented Hearts from overtaking Rangers in second place in the Premiership standings.

Falkirk secured their first league win of the season with goals from loanees Ben Krauhaus and Owen Eames, sandwiching James Wilson's equalizer. Vrancken lamented his team's display, stating, "It was a poor performance. We started the game with some poor communication and were too slow to get back into our organisation. It was not good enough."

"I saw some panic in the team in the first half," Vrancken continued. "We were too reactive, not proactive. If you are not proactive, you don’t find good solutions and cannot dominate a game."

He added that both players on the ball and those who could provide solutions were not performing at their required level, making it difficult to control the match. While the beginning of the second half showed improvement, a missed opportunity by substitute JJ Williams, who came on for Wilson, could have altered the game's outcome.

"At the start of the second half, it was a bit better," Vrancken noted. "We put JJ Williams on to try and hold the ball up and give us more offensively. At the beginning it worked and he had a big chance to put us ahead. If that had gone in, it might have changed things. But in the end, it just wasn’t good enough and it was a deserved victory for Falkirk."

Vrancken confirmed that Williams's substitution was purely tactical, despite the 19-year-old forward recently being recalled to the Scotland squad. "James scored a good goal but after that he wasn’t in the game so much," Vrancken said. "It’s also about things that happened behind him. So nothing wrong with James."

Falkirk manager John McGlynn expressed relief and delight with his team's hard-fought victory. "It was good to get the monkey off our back," McGlynn stated. "The fixture list wasn’t kind to us but I’m delighted for the players tonight. You have to work so hard to win any game in this league and they did that."

McGlynn acknowledged that his team could have better defended Hearts' equalizer but felt they deserved the win overall after creating good chances in the second half. "It gives us a huge lift."
