Veteran defensive end Von Miller is signing with the Dallas Cowboys, marking a homecoming for the eight-time Pro Bowler and two-time Super Bowl champion.

Miller announced his decision on social media, posting a photoshopped image of himself in a Cowboys uniform with the caption, "Dallas ! Let’s make this one Special !" Specifics of the deal were not immediately disclosed.

The DeSoto, Texas native played high school football locally before starring at Texas A&M. Miller was originally drafted second overall by the Denver Broncos in 2011 and later won Super Bowl 50 MVP with the team.

This move reunites Miller with former Broncos teammate Demarcus Ware, who also won a Super Bowl with Denver. Ware posted a screenshot of a FaceTime call with Miller, accompanied by the hashtag "#CowboysNation."

Miller, a future Hall of Famer, is coming off a season with the Washington Commanders where he recorded nine sacks and 26 combined tackles in 17 games. He enters the 2026 NFL season tied for ninth all-time in sacks with 138.5, alongside Ware.

The Cowboys have been seeking to improve their pass rush since trading Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers last year. The team recorded just 31 sacks in the previous season, ranking in the bottom third of the league. Dallas also allowed the third-most yards and the most points per game defensively in 2025.

In addition to Miller, the Cowboys have made other defensive acquisitions this offseason, including outside linebacker Rashan Gary, defensive end Otito Ogbonnia, and linebacker Dee Winters. The team also used two first-round draft picks on defensive players: safety Caleb Downs and linebacker Malachi Lawrence. With new defensive coordinator Christian Parker, the Cowboys aim to improve their defense's ability to prevent opponents from scoring.

Miller's addition is intended to help fill the void in the Cowboys' pass rush. The team's offense was strong in 2025, ranking second in yards per game.
