Verstappen Wins Singapore Sprint After Russell Crash

Red Bull's Max Verstappen has won an incident-filled sprint race at the Singapore Grand Prix following a crash that took out the leading Mercedes of George Russell.

Russell was running in first place under tricky conditions, with a mix of wet and dry track surfaces, when he went too wide at the final corner on the opening lap. His Mercedes spun and made contact with the inside wall before bouncing across to the outside barrier, narrowly avoiding the rest of the field.

The race continued with further drama, including a late collision between the McLaren drivers as Lando Norris attempted to overtake Oscar Piastri. This incident promoted Russell's teammate, Kimi Antonelli, to fourth place.

In addition to Russell's retirement, Antonelli's improved position extended his championship lead to 89 points.
