Verstappen Secures Singapore Grand Prix Pole Position
Red Bull's Max Verstappen outpaced Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton in qualifying.
Red Bull driver Max Verstappen claimed pole position for the Singapore Grand Prix, marking his second consecutive pole in as many weeks. He finished ahead of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton in the final qualifying session.
Verstappen's initial lap time in the decisive qualifying segment was sufficient to secure the top spot, holding off a late challenge from Leclerc, who was 0.054 seconds behind. Hamilton was close after the first runs but could not improve his time on his second attempt. Many of the leading drivers also struggled to improve their lap times on their final runs.
Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli qualified fourth, followed by McLaren's Lando Norris. George Russell, Antonelli's teammate, secured sixth place but is set to start from the back of the grid due to a penalty for exceeding his engine component allowance. Mclaren's Oscar Piastri was the only driver from the top four teams, besides Leclerc, to improve his performance on his second run, ultimately qualifying seventh. Rounding out the top 10 were Alpine's Pierre Gasly, Racing Bulls' Liam Lawson, and Arvid Lindblad.
