Verstappen Dominates Singapore Grand Prix
Max Verstappen secures his second consecutive win from pole position, extending his strong performance in the Formula 1 season.
Max Verstappen achieved a flawless victory at the Singapore Grand Prix, starting from pole position and leading wire-to-wire for his second win in a row. The Dutch driver also claimed the final sprint event of the campaign at Marina Bay, solidifying his position in the drivers' standings.
Verstappen's dominant performance earned him a perfect 10/10 rating for the weekend. He secured pole and victory in both the sprint race and the grand prix, facing minimal challenges after George Russell crashed out of the sprint. His teammate Charles Leclerc also delivered a strong performance, finishing second in the grand prix and third in the sprint, earning him a 9/10 rating.
Championship leader Kimi Antonelli finished third in the grand prix, extending his lead over Mercedes teammate George Russell, who came in ninth. Antonelli received an 8.5/10 rating for a mature drive despite brake concerns and track limit infractions. Russell, despite a lap-one crash in the sprint, recovered impressively from 19th on the grand prix grid to ninth, earning a 7/10.
Other notable performances included Liam Lawson, who earned an 8.5/10 for scoring points in both races with a seventh-place finish in the grand prix. Nico Hulkenberg also received an 8/10 for finishing seventh in the sprint and eighth in the grand prix, holding off Russell.
McLaren's Lando Norris had a mixed weekend, rated 6.5/10 after a collision with teammate Oscar Piastri in the sprint cost them valuable points. Piastri, rated 7/10, recovered from the incident and a slow puncture to finish fifth, passing Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton, rated 7.5/10, qualified third and ran in podium positions for much of the race but dropped to sixth after a strategic tyre decision backfired.
Isack Hadjar, rated 8/10, drove from the pit lane to score a point in the grand prix after encountering mechanical issues and reliability problems that prevented him from setting a qualifying time.
Drivers who faced significant challenges included Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez. Sainz, rated 5.5/10, struggled with his Williams, finishing 14th in both the sprint and the grand prix. Perez, rated 4.5/10, had his sprint end early due to contact, and qualified 20th, ultimately finishing 17th.
Alex Albon, rated 4/10, experienced a poor weekend with a messy sprint including a three-car incident and an early retirement from the grand prix. Valtteri Bottas, also rated 4/10, was involved in a sprint collision and finished three laps behind the winner in the grand prix. Lance Stroll's sprint ended on the opening lap after a collision, and a clutch problem cut short his grand prix race.
Franco Colapinto and Gabriel Bortoleto both retired early from their respective sprint races and faced further issues in qualifying and the grand prix, receiving 5/10 ratings.
