Verstappen Dominates, Hamilton Recovers for Podium in Bahrain

Max Verstappen delivered a dominant performance to claim pole position and victory at the Bahrain Grand Prix. Despite a difficult start that saw him lose the lead to the Mercedes drivers, Verstappen recovered to control the race.

Lewis Hamilton showcased a superb recovery drive, climbing back to the podium after Ferrari's decision to start on slick tires dropped him from the front row to 18th. Hamilton's charge included a crucial overtake of Isack Hadjar following the final safety car, marking one of his strongest drives of the season.

Kimi Antonelli finished second, validating his championship lead after a strong start to the weekend. Charles Leclerc recovered to fourth place, salvaging a significant result for Ferrari despite the team's initial strategic misstep. Isack Hadjar, who qualified third but started eighth due to an engine penalty, battled his way to a strong finish and was involved in close racing with Hamilton and Leclerc.

Oscar Piastri secured sixth place, making a timely switch to intermediate tires from the pit lane after an initial gamble on slicks. Liam Lawson achieved one of his best races of the year, finishing seventh after a strong start in wet conditions. Fernando Alonso converted a 12th-place grid start into an excellent eighth-place finish, marking a significant result for Aston Martin.

Lando Norris had a frustrating weekend, ending with a mistake behind the safety car that dropped him to ninth. Arvid Lindblad charged from the back of the grid to score the final point. Nico Hulkenberg finished just outside the points after a strong recovery drive from 15th.

Lance Stroll finished 12th, and Franco Colapinto recovered to 13th from 21st on the grid. Oliver Bearman and Esteban Ocon finished 14th and behind Bearman respectively, with Ocon expressing frustration with his team's qualifying strategy. Pierre Gasly fell to 16th after an initial strong qualifying position.

Carlos Sainz finished 17th, his race compromised by contact with Gabriel Bortoleto, who was subsequently penalized and finished 18th. Sergio Perez qualified last and struggled to make progress, finishing 19th. Alex Albon retired with a gearbox problem, while Valtteri Bottas spun into the gravel on lap nine, triggering the first safety car.

George Russell showed a significantly improved race pace compared to qualifying, running in the top three for most of the afternoon before a power-unit failure ended his race with five laps remaining.
