Vardy Scores First Burnley Goal, Extends Scoring Streak to 20 Seasons

Jamie Vardy opened his goal-scoring account for Burnley, finding the net in his team's match against Wolves. The 39-year-old forward's goal marked his scoring in a 20th consecutive season, a streak spanning his career from non-league football through his Premier League success with Leicester and a stint in Serie A.

Vardy joined Burnley last month as a free agent after leaving Italian side Cremonese. He scored seven goals in 29 appearances for Cremonese in Serie A last season.

His strike against Wolves gave Burnley a 1-0 lead in the Championship clash. However, Wolves mounted a comeback. Wolves' equalizer came after a defensive error by Burnley's Kyle Walker, who was dispossessed by Sean Neave. Neave then crossed for Fer Lopez to level the score.

Another defensive mistake led to Wolves' winning goal. An errant touch by Burnley's Igor Julio presented Mateus Mane with the ball, who fed substitute Tawanda Chirewa. Chirewa, who had only been on the pitch for 21 seconds, scored through Burnley goalkeeper Gregoire Coudert.

The result intensified pressure on Burnley head coach Nicky Hayen. The club is currently just outside the relegation zone in the Championship, with one win, five draws, and five losses from their first 11 matches. This defeat also extended Burnley's winless streak in league matches at home to over a year.

Wolves' victory marked their fifth of the campaign, lifting them to sixth place in the league standings.

The veteran forward, now 39, has now scored in 20 consecutive seasons
