Valkyries Even WNBA Finals at 2-2 With Win Over Dream

The Golden State Valkyries defeated the Atlanta Dream 67-62 in Game 4 of the WNBA Finals, tying the best-of-seven series at two games apiece. The victory came after Angel Reese, who had delivered strong performances in the Dream's previous two wins, struggled significantly, missing numerous shots and committing crucial turnovers.

Reese finished Saturday's game with eight points and nine rebounds, shooting 2-for-12 from the field. She also recorded six turnovers. This performance starkly contrasted with her assertion on Friday that she could "mess them up" by taking Golden State’s confidence. Reese found herself in foul trouble early and was particularly ineffective around the basket in the second half.

The Dream faced offensive challenges beyond Reese. They committed 14 turnovers in the first half and attempted significantly fewer shots than the Valkyries before halftime. Golden State built a 42-26 lead by the break, capitalizing on Atlanta's struggles.

Atlanta mounted a comeback in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to six points. However, the Valkyries responded, extending their lead to 54-45 entering the final quarter. Reese scored only two points in the third, both from the free-throw line.

In the fourth quarter, with the Dream attempting to close the gap, Reese missed her first five attempts, including several close-range shots. Despite late baskets that brought Atlanta within striking distance, critical misses and turnovers, including Reese's sixth turnover on the final possession, sealed the game for Golden State.

Both teams continued their pattern of remaining off the court for the national anthem before Game 4, marking the fourth consecutive game this has occurred. They left the court moments before the anthem began and returned shortly after it concluded.

The WNBA Finals will now shift to San Francisco for Game 5, scheduled for Monday at Chase Center.
