The U.S. Open is set to offer the largest prize fund in Grand Slam history for its 2026 tournament, with a total of $108 million available to competitors. This represents a 20% increase in prize money compared to the previous year.

The USTA plans to release a detailed financial statement before the main draw commences. While player representatives have not yet seen the exact figures, expectations align with a significant increase. Revenue for the US Open in 2024 was reported at $559.7 million, and a projected 10% growth could place prize money around $98.5 million, consistent with player expectations.

This year's prize money distribution sees the highest percentage increase allocated to first-round winners, with the percentage gradually decreasing in subsequent rounds. Competitors in the mixed doubles event will also see greater rewards, including a doubling of first-round prize money.

As part of the new initiative, a player support program will be launched after the U.S. Open. The program, funded from the overall prize fund, will be managed through an independent holding account while its framework is finalized. Player representatives will have input into the program's development, which aims to address player concerns regarding sporting matters at the four Grand Slam tournaments.

Player representatives have welcomed the announcements, noting the substantial increase in prize money. They expressed anticipation for further developments and ensuring the new player council becomes an effective forum for consultation on prize money and player welfare.

The U.S. Open is scheduled to begin on Sunday, August 30.
