The Anaheim Ducks are entering the season with a focus on their rebuild, featuring a roster of young talent that gained significant experience last year. The team reached the postseason in the 2025-26 season, finishing with a 43-33-6 record. They advanced past the first round in six games against Edmonton before being eliminated by the Vegas Golden Knights in the second round, also in six games.
The Vegas Golden Knights, in contrast, are a more established team that has rarely needed to rebuild. They possess a deep, balanced roster with no apparent significant weaknesses. In their franchise history, the Golden Knights have only missed the postseason once and have reached the Stanley Cup Finals three times, winning once. Last season, after a strong regular season, they defeated Utah in six games, then the Ducks in six games. They then eliminated the Avalanche in four games before losing to the Hurricanes in the Stanley Cup Final in six games.
The game is scheduled for Friday, October 2, 2026, at 10:00 PM ET, and will be played at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Broadcasts will be available on ESPN+, KCOP, Prime Video (local), and Scripps Sports.
