New Milwaukee Bucks guard Tyler Herro stated his surprise and excitement upon learning he was traded to his hometown team, a move that sent Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat. Herro was in Paris when he received the news.
"Back to the motherf–king crib, dog. Y’all did lost your motherf–king mind," Herro said in a video posted on his YouTube channel shortly after the trade was announced. He also appeared to be in good spirits, singing verses of Thin Lizzy's "The Boys Are Back in Town" multiple times.
Herro, who attended Whitnall High School in Greenfield, Wisconsin, and finished his career there with over 2,000 points, expressed his readiness to return to the state. "I’m ready to come home and not prove everyone wrong, but just be able to represent the city and the state because I wanted to do that coming out of school as well," he told ESPN.
Herro's remarks come shortly after an reported physical altercation with former teammate Bam Adebayo in Las Vegas on July 10. According to sources familiar with the incident, the altercation began when Adebayo confronted Herro about critical social media comments the guard had made regarding Adebayo and Antetokounmpo. The exchange became physical after a verbal dispute, with Adebayo reportedly striking Herro in the face area before others intervened.
"Honestly, I’m just trying to move past all of it," Herro told ESPN regarding the incident. "I’m focused on Milwaukee and building something special. They obviously just traded the greatest player in their history, so we want to come in and help continue what they’ve been doing."
The blockbuster trade sent Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis to the Heat in exchange for Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakučionis, and a collection of draft picks. Miami also awaits LeBron James' decision on his potential return for the upcoming season.
