The Minnesota Twins have acquired pitcher Dean Kremer from the Baltimore Orioles in a move to strengthen their roster ahead of the 2026 MLB trade deadline. The transaction was reported by Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

As part of the deal, the Twins will assume approximately $1.7 million of Kremer's remaining salary for the 2026 season. This acquisition follows the Twins' earlier move to acquire A.J. Minter from the New York Mets on July 30, 2026, a trade where Minnesota also agreed to take on about $3.37 million of Minter's salary.

In exchange for Kremer, the Twins are sending 18-year-old prospect Jhonmardo Reyes to Baltimore, according to Dan Hayes of The Athletic. MLB Pipeline had previously ranked Reyes as the No. 24 prospect in the Twins' farm system.

Kremer, 30, has had a challenging season thus far, making only seven starts due to a right quad strain. He has posted a 6.50 ERA in those starts, allowing 26 runs over 36 innings. Throughout his seven-year major league career, all with the Orioles, Kremer has a career ERA of 4.37.

Last season, Kremer was a more consistent presence in the Orioles' rotation, starting 29 of his 31 appearances. He finished the 2025 season with a 4.19 ERA, recording 142 strikeouts over 171 innings pitched.

Reyes, a Dominican outfielder, played in the Rookie Ball level for the Twins in the Florida Complex League, where he recorded a .950 OPS with seven home runs and 44 RBIs in 49 games. He also played six games at the A-ball level this season, batting 2-for-19.

The Twins currently stand at 56-55, placing them three games behind the Chicago White Sox for the lead in the AL Central. They are also tied with the Cleveland Guardians for the final AL wild-card spot. The Orioles, with a record of 54-56, remain in playoff contention, trailing a wild-card spot by 1.5 games.
