Tour de France 2027 Route Revealed, Featuring Six UK Stages for Men's and Women's Races

The full route for the 2027 Tour de France and the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift has been announced, revealing detailed street-by-street plans for six stages that will take place in the United Kingdom.

This marks the first time both the men's and women's editions of the race will commence in the same nation outside of France in the same year, a collaboration described as a "Super Grand Depart."

Men's Race Begins in Scotland

The three-week men's race is set to kick off on July 2, 2027, with a stage starting at the foot of Edinburgh Castle and finishing in Carlisle. This start will be the northernmost in the history of the Tour de France. The second stage will cover a route between Keswick and Liverpool. Wales will host the third and final UK stage, a grand depart from Welshpool to Cardiff on July 4.

Women's Race Kicks Off in Yorkshire

The Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift will begin on July 30, 2027, with its opening stage from Leeds to Manchester. The race will then move back across the Pennines to Yorkshire for a finish in Sheffield.

A team time trial around the streets of central London will conclude the opening section of the nine-stage women's race.

A Historic Collaboration

Tour de France director Christian Prudhomme highlighted the significance of the joint UK start. "Along with what we anticipate will be a warm and massive welcome for the champions, Great Britain also offers us a symbol that further ties the two races together," he stated at the announcement ceremony in Paris. "From the start on 2 July at the foot of Edinburgh Castle... to a team time trial in London on 1 August."

Previous editions of the Tour de France have featured stages in the UK, including in 1974, 1994, and 2007, with a notable Grand Depart in Yorkshire in 2014. The 2027 event will be the first time both the men's and women's races have commenced in the same country outside of France within the same calendar year.
