WWE NXT Champion Tony D'Angelo has set his sights on newcomer Mason Rook, stating he owes the emerging talent "a receipt" for his recent actions. Rook capitalized on an attack by Kam Hendrix on D'Angelo during his own NXT debut, executing a moonsault on the champion and subsequently attacking both D'Angelo and Hendrix.
D'Angelo, who is also preparing to defend his NXT Championship against Naraku at The Great American Bash this Sunday, expressed his disapproval of Rook's tactics. "I think he has a lot of potential. I think he’s very athletic for a guy of his size. I owe him a receipt, for sure, for moonsaulting on me and then also attacking me at the end of the match," D'Angelo told Fox News Digital. "I don’t know. Me, personally, I don’t have a lot of good things to say about the guy because, I get it, he wants the title. He wants to make a statement when he first gets to NXT but not at my expense."
D'Angelo acknowledged Rook's ambition but condemned his methods. "But, I’m sure you’ll see a lot more of him. I’m sure him and Kam Hendrix got some beef to settle. I’m sure we’ll see how that goes," he added.
While D'Angelo is focused on his upcoming title defense against Naraku, Rook has been involved in a separate rivalry with Kam Hendrix. The NXT Champion's immediate concern remains his championship bout, but the actions of Mason Rook have clearly registered as a future point of contention.
