The Tennessee Titans have waived quarterback Will Levis, concluding his time with the team after he started 21 games over two seasons. The decision came Sunday ahead of the league's roster deadline.
Levis, who was the No. 33 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, had been the subject of trade discussions, but no deal materialized. The quarterback expressed a desire for a fresh start, having been largely projected as a first-round selection before his draft-day slide.
During his time with the Titans, Levis compiled a 5-16 record as a starter, throwing for 3,899 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. He missed his entire rookie season in 2023 due to shoulder surgery.
The Titans' current starting quarterback, Cam Ward, was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 draft and has started every game since. Mitchell Trubisky has been signed as Ward's backup, agreeing to a two-year, $10.5 million deal this past offseason.
Neither general manager Mike Borgonzi, who took over in 2025, nor head coach Robert Saleh, hired this past offseason, were part of the decision-making process that drafted Levis.
Levis, 27, had recently stated his confidence in his abilities, telling ESPN, "I know I’ve put the tape out there already that I’m a dang good quarterback in this league... There are not 32 quarterbacks in this league better than me. I know that for sure."
In his departing statement, Levis expressed gratitude for his experience with the Titans. "Ms. Amy [Adams-Strunk] brought me in here and welcomed me with open arms, as well as everyone in Nashville with the team," he said. "I grew a lot in my time with the Titans and wouldn’t trade the experience for anything."
